The Recovery Bank is intended to be a useful place where self-respecting adults do important work to help each other develop recovery and life skills. The Recovery Bank is intended to be a place for people to be active in finding purpose, forging relationships and learning skills essential to long term recovery. The Recovery Bank will be a place for families and the community to receive information regarding substance abuse disorders and strategies for addressing issues related to substance abuse disorders. The Recovery Bank programming is designed to meet non-clinical, social, educational, recreational and peer group support programming focused on establishing skills required for sustaining wellness, health and long term sustained recovery.
The Recovery Bank is not intended as a treatment center; however, Certified Recovery Specialists and volunteers will endeavor to refer appropriate individuals to treatment professionals for level of care assessments to determine individual eligibility for inpatient, outpatient and/or individual counseling. The Recovery Bank is not intended as exclusive to AA or 12-Step Path to Recovery. The Recovery Bank will encourage individuals on various pathways to recovery including secular recovery programs, faith-based recovery programs, medically assisted recovery, 12-Step abstinence based programs and any and all other pathways to recovery. All pathways to recovery are welcomed and encouraged. The Recovery Bank will not be a “drop in center” or an AA/12-Step clubhouse.
Peer based recovery support is the process of giving and receiving non-professional, non-clinical assistance to achieve long term recovery from alcohol and/or other drug related problems. The support is provided by people who are experientially credentialed to assist others in initiating recovery, maintaining recovery and enhancing the quality of personal and family life in long term recovery.
